The Workshop will be held Jan. 3–4, 2024 at Arizona State University, with support from Corning, Bruker AXS, and Advanced Diamond Products. Info and deadlines below! Please pass on this information to anyone who might be interested in this event.

• The Workshop will begin 8–9 am Jan. 3 and will adjourn by 4 pm on Jan. 4th.
• The Workshop location is the Bateman Physical Sciences F-Wing (map), rooms 101 and 186. Both are accessible from the lobby.
• The Workshop hotel is The Graduate Tempe Hotel. Our special rate is valid for January 2–5 and is available until December 11. Please mention “ASU FORCE workshop” when you place your reservation and ask for the special ASU rate: $169 on weekdays and $179 on weekends.
• Invited talks (confirmed thus far)
  • Dr. Tetsuo Irifune, Director of the Geodynamics Research Center and Distinguished Professor, Ehime University, Japan
    • Dr. Irifune is a mineral physicist and deep Earth petrologist who uses large volume press to study characteristics of the mantle and has greatly advanced the field with such innovations as the development of superhard nano-polycrystalline diamonds. Dr. Irifune’s lab is home to Botchan, Ichiban’s big brother.
  • Dr. Megumi Kawasaki, Associate Professor, Jack R. Meredith Faculty Scholar, Oregon State University, USA
    • Dr. Kawasaki is a materials scientist who studies severe plastic deformation using the high pressure torsion press (Twister).
  • Dr. Carl Agee, Former President of COMPRES, Director of the Institute of Meteoritics and Professor, University of New Mexico, USA
  • Dr. Andrew Campbell, Director/PI of SEES, Department Chair and Professor, University of Chicago, USA

  • Poster boards are 30″ x 40″ but larger sizes may be able to be accommodated, particularly if you have already printed your poster.
